Blue Heron Lodge 349 was founded in 1946 when a team from Octoraro Lodge 22 of West Chester PA came down to Camp Darden to induct the first OA members from Tidewater Council. The Blue Heron was selected as the totem of the Lodge since they were frequently seen at the camp’s Lake Constance.

The Lodge celebrated their 70th anniversary in 2016, with special jacket patches, activity patches, and flap patch sets to commemorate the occasion. You can find more information about the patches in the Fall 2016 edition of the Lodge newsletter, The Drumbeat.

Octoraro Lodge 22 shared in the celebration by issuing their own commemorative 2 piece patch set with the pocket flap patch featuring the classic Blue Heron Lodge totem, number, and anniversary years. The matching pocket piece design includes the flying goose totem of Octoraro Lodge and horseshoe that represents their camp, Horseshoe Scout Reservation.
