Notes

On March 12, 2020 the SR-7A Region Leadership team announced that the 2020 SR-7A Conclave was postponed to October 2-4 due to health and safety concerns around the COVID-19 virus.

On July 28 the following cancellation announcement was sent via email:

Conclave is a great place to make new friends and be inspired to go back home and REIMAGINE the ways we strengthen our units, lodges, and communities. In order to do that, though, we need to be healthy so we can help others, and this includes taking precautions to help continue to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

This week, the Southern Region Section 7A leadership team, in consultation with the leadership of Shenandoah Lodge and Virginia Headwaters Council, has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 SR-7A Conclave that was scheduled for October 2-4, 2020 at Camp Shenandoah.

While this was a tough decision, we believe it is the right one, and it has been made out of concern for our members, volunteers, guests, and community. Our top priority is always the health and safety of everyone involved in our events.

It’s been over three decades since a Virginia Conclave has been rescheduled or canceled, and we know you’ll have questions about what this change means for you and your lodge. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to make this change as smooth as possible. We will send out information about refunds for Conclave registration and memorabilia pre-orders in the next few weeks.

We love the SR-7A Conclave just as much as you do. It is Virginia’s marquee OA event, and we are sad that we will not be able to watch a sea of Arrowmen gather in the fields of Camp Shenandoah to celebrate our brotherhood. However, we remain excited about our next Conclave and look forward to seeing you at Pipsico Scout Reservation in April 2021 hosted by Wahunsenakah Lodge 333.

During a special teleconference held September 1, 2020 the following individuals were elected as the new Section SR-7A officers:
Section Chief: Zach Grinvalsky
Section Vice Chief: Kaitlyn Röetz
Section Secretary: Eli Hattersley

The 2020 SR-7A conclave would have been the ninth area/section gathering hosted by Shenandoah Lodge, all at Camp Shenandoah. Previously they hosted Area 3C Pow Wows in 1958 and 1967, Section SE-8 conclaves in 1983 and 1990, and the first conclave of the short-lived Section SR-6B in 1994.

Camp Shenandoah has also been the site of SR-7A conclaves in 2002, 2008, and 2014.

On January 30 the Section announced that 2020 OA National Chief Zach Schonfeld, a member of Amangamek Wipit 470 lodge, will be in attendance at the 2020 SR-7A Conclave.
