An item from Kecoughtan Lodge rarely seen in person, much less for sale, appeared in a listing on eBay recently, though I doubt the seller knew what a treasure he had and what it would eventually fetch. Described in the listing as “Single Vintage Boy Scout Neckerchief, Unknown Patch (Arrow, Acorn, W) Handmade?” the bidding started at $49 on February 4, and closed on February 9, 6:14:18 PST at $7,687.87.

I’ve reached out to the seller who is from Pasco, Washington to see if they will share some provenance about this scarce item. No word yet who the lucky winner is that gets to add this special item to their collection.

Back in 1999 when I was building Kecoughtan.com Sam Fairchild, former Lodge Chief, provided me with this information about the X1:

“The second issue was a blue neckerchief with a brown felt acorn. It was worn by Lodge members to the 1953 National Order of the Arrow Conference, and thereafter. There were only 17 or so of these neckerchiefs made, and I had Eddie Jones’ own neckerchief in the case. The acorn was about 4 inches tall with an arrow piercing it diagonally.”

When I asked Sam if the recently sold one was known or one of the “lost” ones he advised it was not previously known, and speculated that the white neckerchief might indicate it belonged to the Leader of the delegation attending the NOAC.
